There are two international airports in the Valencia region - at Valencia itself and at Alicante in the south of the region. Valencia Airport (VLC) is 9 kilometers (6 miles) from the city center. Valencia Airport doubled its number of passenger in the decade up to 2007, and has now become Spain's eight busiest airport. Around 60% of the passengers at the airport use internal Spanish flights, the rest arrives from destinations around Europe.
There are frequent bus services from the airport to the city center. Local trains run every 20 minutes and the Subway goes directly to the town center from the airport. There are also taxis available at the airport, this of course is a more expensive alternative, and make sure to use authorized taxis to avoid getting ripped off.
The Alicante Airport is mainly used for those wanting to go to Alicante, Benidorm and other Costa Blanca resorts for a holiday. With more than 9 million passengers annually, Alicante Airport is the sixth largest in Spain, and connects to cities in many European countries.
