Murcia is served by San Javier Airport (MJV), which is located on the edge of the Mar Menor, close to the towns of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, and 45 kilometers (28 miles) southeast of Murcia. There are international flights to and from Murcia from many destinations in Europe. Domestic flights are also available from Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca.

The airport at Alicante is frequently used by travellers to Murcia flights as well. Alicante airport is an hour away and has a larger choice of domestic and international flights, including many low cost flights.
