There is a vast and varied choice of hotels in Malaga. The more expensive hotels are mainly found along the Paseo Maritimo, in the Malagueta area or along the Paseo de Antonio Machado with excellent views of the harbour. These hotels are usually surrounded by restaurants that serve a great variety of fresh seafood and specialties such as lamb.
Many old buildings have in recent years been brought back to their former glory, a number of which have been tastefully converted into 21st century hotels. These renovated and converted hotels are mainly found to the right and left of Avenida de la Rosaleda, in the heart of the city and within easy access to tour the city and with good public transport links. They vary in price, not as expensive as a five star hotel, but not as inexpensive as others.
The cheapest Malaga accommodation are just south of Almada Principal and Malaga's main square, the Plaza de la Constitucion. Still another choice are pensions or youth hostels found around the city. These discount hotels are usually centrally located in Malaga.
Another option is Torremolinos, just 12 kilometer west from Malaga and closer to the Malaga Airport. Torremolinos has a big hotel infrastructure with approximately 50,000 beds in hotels and apartments available. Dominated by three and four star hotels, many have been renovated and modernized in recent years providing excellent price-quality accommodation.
